Since October 1st, 2019, the Government of New Zealand exempted 60 eligible countries, including Latvia. The requirement of tourism visas to transit or travel New Zealand for multiple short trips up to 90 consecutive days, but an eTA is mandatory to transit New Zealand. The Latvian citizens can now obtain an online eTA for New Zealand through applying an online application form.
The eTA avoids the need for visiting New Zealand consulate or embassy as it is a lengthy process to obtain a transit visa waiver. After getting approved the New Zealand eTA, it is automatically linked to the traveler’s passport, which makes individuals’ identification easy on the New Zealand Border. The eTA eliminates the requirement of passport stamps while checking. You must apply for an New Zealand eTA application before three days prior to your departure.
As the citizens of Latvia, a tourist visa is not required to travel to New Zealand, but It is mandatory to obtain an online NZeTA to enter New Zealand prior to their departure. Latvians with an approved New Zealand eTA can have multiple stays without having obtained a regular New Zealand tourist visa for the country. The travelers traveling together with their family members must give the passport details of each member, and the travelers flying with their other family members or minors are required to apply New Zealand eTA application for each member individually.

- The traveler’s passport should remain valid for at least 90 days after the extended exit date from Latvia.
- The NZeTA online application form must be completed.

- The citizen with dual citizenship is acknowledged to fill the passport detail with which he is going to travel.
- Give each family member’s passport details and apply an eTA application individually for each member.
Latvian citizens can easily obtain and apply an online New Zealand eTA application form using their Smartphone, personal computer, or tablet in ten minutes from their home or office. Avoiding delay or queries while filling the application form, the following details are required to keep along with them:
- Personal detail – Full name, date of birth, address, family details (if traveling with family, each member’s details)
- Passport detail – Passport number, nationality, expiry date
- Health information – Intention of receiving medical treatment or consultation in New Zealand
- Travelling plans – Hotels, dates of arrival and departure
- Security detail – History of criminal convictions
- A current email address to receive the approved eTA visa waiver
- A debit or a credit card for paying an application and IVL fees.
Having completed the online application and check the details carefully, then pay the fee and associate tourist levy (IVL); the application is submitted successfully. In a business day, the New Zealand eTA application is processed and approved. Tourists visiting with their family members or minors must apply an eTA application for each member. When approved, the eTA is automatically linked to the traveler’s passport, so they only need a print out of the NZeTA as well as a passport to get the entry in New Zealand.
It is very simple to apply and submit the NZeTA application as it takes only ten minutes for applying the New Zealand eTA form, paying the application fee and IVL fees. It takes one to three working days to respond from New Zealand. The travelers are required to apply the NZeTA online form at least three consecutive days for processing successfully. After the approval of the New Zealand eTA, it is sent in PDF format to the mentioned email address. Travelers must have a print out of eTA along with their passport for crossing the Border Security of New Zealand. The New Zealand eTA is valid for two years or till the passport expiry date whichever comes first.
